Fontaine Jacobs art to be displayed
November 21, 2012
The art of Fontaine Jacobs will be featured in a show titled “Petals, People and Places” Saturday, Nov 24 through Jan. 1 at the Mosquito Café, 628 14th St.
After a successful career in the commercial art world, Jacobs has turned her considerable talent to fine art, painting both the figure and nature. “Petals, People and Places” features vibrant floral subjects, her passion for portraits of both the human and furry variety and landscapes of remarkable places discovered in her travels.
Jacobs paints portraits with the goal of obtaining a recognizable likeness of the subject along with catching a bit of their soul, whether it is a twinkle in their eye or a certain smile.
Commissions can be painted from the subject’s photos or a scheduled photo session by the artist.
Jacobs’ work will be featured at The National Society of Artists’ 28th National Juried Show Nov. 30 through Dec. 29 at the Butler Longhorn Museum, 1220 Coryell St., and in League City; Island Gallery, 4104 NASA Parkway, in El Lago.
Jacobs’ work will also be displayed at Winter Street Studio, 2101 Winter St., in Houston, for their charity auction, Art on The Avenue, which raises money for safe, affordable housing for the Houston community. She is also a regular at the monthly member shows of The Galveston Art League Gallery.
